Lucio snatched by Juventus F.C

The 34-year-old centre back left the Nerazzurri after his contract was cancelled at the club by mutual consent. He had two years left on his deal with the San Siro outfit, but after discussions between the player and club, it was decided that it was better for both parties to part ways.

After the announcement on 29th June, the Old Lady quickly emerged as the favourites to sign the solid defender. The Bianconeri made Lucio a proposal soon after his departure from Inter and after due consideration, the Brazilian accepted the offer from the reigning Italian champions.
Lucio has played for a vast variety of clubs in his career and represented the likes of Internacional, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich before moving to Inter Milan. The defender has won many trophies, including a Champions League medal with the Nerazzurri.

The Brazilian has not only picked up trophies at club level but also collected silverware at international level too. Lucio was a part of Brazil’s World Cup winning squad in 2002 while he was also played in the side that won the Confederations Cup in 2009. The experienced campaigner is one of the most-capped players for Brazil having made a staggering 105 appearances for his country.

Lucio will add much needed experience to the Old Lady’s squad and coach Antonio Conte will be looking to pair the Brazilian with Giorgio Chiellini to sure up the defence.

Signing such an experienced player may be a masterstroke from coach Conte and the Old Lady faithful must feel delighted to have snapped up Lucio on a free transfer.
